Several publications used incorrect images of Ferland and Edouard instead of Benjamin
Ferland Mendy and Edouard Mendy have hit out at both the British and French media for using their images in stories surrounding Benjamin Mendy.
Benjamin, 27, who is currently held on remand at HMP Altcourse in Liverpool, will remain in prison until his trial, which is set to take place early next year on January 24.
The Manchester City and France full-back, who has been suspended by the club until further notice, is facing six counts of rape and one of sexual assault which relates to four complainants over the age of 16.
Ferland and Edouard Mendy slam media outlets for using their images in Benjamin Mendy story.
He was charged in August, with the offences alleged to have taken place between October 2020 and August 2021. He has been denied bail on several occasions.
On Tuesday (16 November) Benjamin was charged with an additional two counts of rape and appeared in court the following day, however, several media publications incorrectly used images of Ferland and Edouard.
Posting to his Instagram story, Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard had a series of screenshots with media outlets who had incorrectly used his image with the caption: “It’s sad to see that in 2021, in both France and England, for some black people have neither first names or distinct faces.
“These errors seem to be accidental, but on the contrary they’re highly symbolic. It’s not complicated to differentiate two faces, especially when they’re wearing different shirts!”
