The draw for the third round of the FA Cup has been made.
The oldest club competition in the world gets underway proper on January 6, and, to be perfectly honest, there’s not many stand-out ties.
There’s a few all-Premier League games, in which teams will inevitably rest players and attendances will be down. The magic of the cup, eh?
However, Manchester United fans will welcome back a club legend to Old Trafford when Jose Mourinho’s side host Reading.
Jaap Stam only spent three seasons at United, who won the FA Cup last season, before being sold in controversial circumstances to Lazio in 2001. But what a three years it was.
In that time, United won three Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the Champions League, with Stam a key player for Alex Ferguson’s side.
Reading is Stam’s first job in management, but he has impressed so far. The club are currently third in the Championship.
Elsewhere, Liverpool will play either Newport or Plymouth.
