Ezequiel Lavezzi reveals why he snubbed two English clubs before swapping Paris for China

Simon Lloyd

Ezequiel Lavezzi has revealed why he made the recent switch to Chinese Super League club, Hebei China Fortune.

Refreshingly, the Argentine was honest enough to admit that the whopping wage packet he will earn in China – reportedly £400,000 a week –  was one of the main reasons for making the move.

“The plan for development of this club interests me,” he explained. “It is one of the reasons that pushed me to join the club, alongside the finances. That is why I came here.”

Furthermore, the South American revealed he had plenty of offers to stay in Europe – including two from the Premier League.

“I could have signed for Inter, Chelsea or Manchester United. But I took a decision to leave for China.

“It is an important decision in my career. But I have already taken the decision to play here. So now I will give everything for my club.”
