Roy Keane is still the hardman of world football.
His fearsome playing days might still be long since passed, but he’s still a f**king scary man – even when he’s happy.
The Manchester United and Republic of Ireland legend appeared close to tears as the whistle went, putting his country through to the last 16 after a historic Robbie Brady goal.
But don’t let this uncharacteristic show of emotion fool you on this most memorable of Irish footballing nights.

That terrifying streak in him that shit up every player he faced still courses through those old Irish veins, even during the wild celebrations that followed Ireland’s 1-0 win over Italy.
Robbie Brady was ‘congratulated’ by Keane with what can only be described as a death grip to the throat.
If this was Keane in celebration mode, it’s no wonder those Boys in Green played out of their skin.
Twitter loved it…
Congratulations, Roy Keane style… pic.twitter.com/Voco4gAcvp

Scoring an 85th minute winner and then receiving a celebratory Roy Keane death choke: priceless. https://t.co/yGFes4UTSs

Amazing scenes. Roy Keane throttling his own players with emotion. Means he's happy with them I'm told #IRLITA
