Ferguson has struggled for playing time with the Seagulls.
Republic of Ireland striker Evan Ferguson is wanted by two Premier League clubs, according to reports.
Fulham and Leicester City are both said to be keen on signing the striker from Brighton and Hove Albion in the January transfer window.
On Friday, Football Insider reported that Ferguson wants to leave Brighton in the January transfer window. That report has been followed up with news that Fulham and Leicester are interested in taking him on loan.
Ferguson signed a new contract last year at Brighton that runs until 2029. So, any club looking to buy him outright will likely have to shell out a significant amount. It is also possible that clubs could look to sign the 20-year-old on a loan deal.
According to The Telegraph, Brighton will allow Ferguson to leave on loan in January.
Fulham and Leicester would certainly offer Ferguson more opportunities to start games.
Leicester have been inconsistent in the last few seasons and are manager-less right now and teetering close to the relegation zone.
However, they are a well-resourced club with a high upside, and Ferguson would no doubt be picking the brains of Jamie Vardy.
Fulham are punching above their weight under Marco Silva, just above mid-table, with European qualification not out of reach.
Both teams have been eliminated from the EFL Cup.
At Brighton, the 20-year-old has struggled for significant game time this season under manager Fabian Hurzeler. Ferguson has made just seven Premier League appearances this season, and only one of those was a start.
After a breakthrough 2022/23 season, the Meath native was valued at £100 million and rumours of interest from top clubs were abundant.
Brigton were said to have rejected an approach from Manchester United for the forward.
Injuries and loss of form have stalled his progress, however, with a serious ankle injury keeping him out for most of 2024.
On top of that, favoured Brighton attackers Danny Welbeck, Joao Pedro and Georginio Rutter have helped the side to a fifth-place position in the Premier League after 12 games.
Earlier this month, Hurzeler spoke for the need to allow these players to build relationships rather than frequently chopping and changing his starting XI.
He said: “I think these things only come by playing together several times and this is exactly the consistency we need in our squad, if you always need to change the players, you can’t build these relationships.
“These two (Welbeck and Rutter) are playing together quite well at the moment.”
