Not a bad incentive, is it?
Erik ten Hag will reportedly earn a staggering £3million bonus if he can lead Manchester United back into the Premier League’s top four and secure Champions League football.
The Dutchman – who is said to be earning £9million-a-year – has a number of incentives in his contract – including a huge bonus if the Red Devils qualify for the Champions League at the end of the season.
As reported by The Sun, United are facing debts of around £90 million if they miss out on Champions League football once again.
The report states that some of the debt would come from the club’s £75million-a-season shirt sponsorship with Adidas. Should United fail to secure Champions League football for a second season in a row, they would be required to forfeit £25million.
Moreover, there would also be losses in television revenue, prize money and gate receipts.

Ronaldo’s possible departure set to impact United’s current finances
With Cristiano Ronaldo desperate to leave Old Trafford, his exit could have a negative impact on the Red Devils’ finances and could leave the club facing another six-figure loss.
According to the report, a ‘significant volume’ of supporters who have brought the new United home shirt have wanted Ronaldo’s name on the back.
However, many fans are now asking for refunds or replacement shirts if the 37-year-old is to leave the club.
A United insider said: “People have been turning up at the megastore asking where they stand on a potential exchange if Ronaldo does go?
“United did right by supporters last year when he took over the No7 shirt, but with the greatest respect to Edinson Cavani, we’re talking completely different levels here.”
