Stephen Kenny’s headaches keep piling up.
The SSE Airtricity League champions have endured a tough time with injury this season and a patched-up side exited the EA Sports Cup on Monday night after a shock loss to St Patrick’s Athletic.
The 114th-minute strike from Rory Feely was enough to send Stephen Kenny’s side out of the competition in the very first round, but the club’s worries were further increased after the full-time whistle.
Striker Ciaran Kilduff was subbed off during the second half after suffering what, at the time, looked like a serious injury.

According to reports today, that worry was well-founded as the striker has suffered a serious back injury that will rule him out of the Dundalk starting XI for at least two months.
The Sun is claiming that Kilduff has suffered two broken vertebrae in his back, and a further scan will be needed to determine the full diagnosis in the coming days.
The Kildare native’s injury means Dundalk now have just one fit striker in David Mcmillan for this Friday’s clash with Shamrock Rovers.
Dundalk are top of the SSE Airtricity league table, but with Kilduff now likely to be missing until the summer break, Kenny will be hoping his midfield can step up to add goals to their title charge.
