Watch as a ‘drunk’ fourth official is dragged away from the touchline in Czech match

Simon Lloyd

Every now and then, you might hear the odd football fan sarcastically blame a referee’s decision making on a few too many beers.

While the likes of Mike Dean or Mark Clattenburg would never dream of taking charge of a Premier League match after a skin full of pints, over in the Czech Republic two referees have been banned from officiating games after appearing to do so while under the influence of alcohol.

As pointed out by The Telegraph, The duo were told about their ban by the Czech FA following their involvement in the game between FK Pribram and Slavia Prague earlier in the week.

Fourth official Marek Pilny (believed to be the man in the video below) and assistant referee Jiri Jech will now lose their licences and face disciplinary action.

‘Pilny was visibly drunk from the beginning of the game,’ a statement from the Czech FA reads.

‘He struggled for balance by the touchline, he fell, at times he ran with the linesman copying his movements.

‘After 10 minutes he had to be guarded by a bodyguard, and at halftime Pilny left for the changing rooms and never came back.’

The statement also adds that Jech was ‘also under the influence of alcohol and allegedly even peed during the game.’
