Loic Remy, come on down.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is resigned to being without Diego Costa for this weekend’s Premier League encounter with QPR. He may also have to do without his leading scorer for the April 18 clash with Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
Costa’s tenuous hamstrings have seen him sidelined for a third time this season. Mourinho is planning without Costa for the next two weeks.
The provisional comeback date, set by the Blues, is the April 26 date with Arsenal at the Emirates.
If Chelsea were to beat QPR and United, and the Gunners were not to take the maximum three points from their away game with Burnley, they could wrap up the league with victory at The Emirates.
Costa has 19 league goals this season but his scoring ratio dropped significantly since late January [he found the net twice in eight games]. Didier Drogba has started only three leagues games this season so Remy – two goals in his last two outings – will be asked to lead the line.
Costa’s ongoing hamstring issues may see him go under the surgeon’s knife during the summer.
