We thought Guus Hiddink was supposed to be a calming influence…
It seems that the negative attitude at Chelsea has spilled over into training ground anger as reports emerged on Thursday evening from Cobham that clashing teammates had to be separated earlier that day.
Rumours are circulating that Diego Costa and Oscar squared up to one another after Oscar was overly aggressive in a tackle on the controversial striker who is not known to back down from a challenge.
The pair are believed to have squared up to one another before other players rushed to separate the Brazilians.
The Telegraph quote a source as having said: “Oscar’s challenge was outrageous, it was straight into the knee of Costa and could have done him some real damage. That sparked a brawl between them and the other players had to stop it.”
Hiddink is not said to be too concerned about the coming-together and was quick to dispel all talk of the incident immediately afterwards as it was, understandably, the talk of the changing room.
With the reigning Premier League champions still languishing in 14th place in the table, it’s easy to understand why the mood wouldn’t exactly be merry around Stamford Bridge but this isn’t a great sign of things to come.
