Whisper it around Old Trafford, but perhaps Manchester United fans are beginning to wish they had Jurgen Klopp as manager instead of Louis van Gaal.
The likeable German is walking the walk as well as talking the talk at Anfield, bringing with him an attractive brand of dynamic, attacking football – precisely the style of play that United supporters have been crying out for.
Instead they are witness to patient, functional fare under Van Gaal, who is determined to prevail via death by a thousand passes. That’s all well and good, but when there is little end product to the controlled possession, there seems little point.
