Ronaldinho would be proud of that one.
One of the greatest things about social media is that it keeps us up-to-date with grassroots football. We can all grow a bit tired of watching Alexis Sanchez play the piano or see a picture of Mohamed Salah accompanied by whatever record he broke this week.
So, it’s refreshing when we catch wind of the fortunes of clubs further down the football pyramid.
We’ll always have time for the non-league and Sunday league lads.
Take Newmarket Celtic from Clare. The junior football club’s B team were in action against Connolly Celtic on Wednesday night and, for those who turned out to watch the game, they were treated to some serious quality.
The gloriously-named N’Golo Monty produced an outrageous no-look assist for Ciaran ‘Ginga’ McCoy. Gaze in wonder at his casual brilliance below. Ronaldinho is possibly the player most closely associated with ‘no-look passes’ in football, but we’d say the Brazilian would happily lay claim to this one.

No-look assists are always glorious, but the sheer insouciance with which Monty flicks the ball into the mixer from the edge of the area really was something else.
McCoy, stealing in at the far post, really couldn’t miss.
It was just one of the highlights in a thumping 5-0 win for Newmarket’s B side. RTE didn’t get down to the game but from Newmarket’s entertaining Twitter updates, we also know that Ronan McCormack scored a ‘majestic overhead kick.’
Whatever they’re feeding them in Clare, it’s working a bloody treat.
