Manchester United “join the race” for Christian Pulisic

Simon Lloyd

January is nearly on the horizon.

How do we know this? Because Manchester United are being linked with big money moves for every footballer under the sun, that’s how. The latest name in the frame is Christian Pulisic of Borussia Dortmund, who has also been linked with transfers to Liverpool and Chelsea in the last few weeks.

Now though, United are sniffing around, at least according to Sport Bild (via Sport Witness).

Pulisic

As well as being one of the most promising young talents in world football, the 20-year-old is a USA international – something which would be of huge interest to United in terms of further growing their brand in North America.

Pulisic’s current deal expires in 2020, with SportBild’s report suggesting Dortmund may be forced to consider selling him in the summer. Should they decide to do so, the report claims the Bundesliga leaders will look for a fee of around €50-60m for him – pretty reasonable given the recent market and how valuable he may prove to be from a commercial point of view.

Dortmund currently sit four points clear at the top of the German top flight after their win over Fortuna Düsseldorf at the weekend. Bayern Munich, the reigning champions, are nine points behind in fifth place.
