Eriksen faces months on the sidelines.

Christian Eriksen is set to miss the next few months with an injury, it has been revealed. The Danish midfielder won’t return to action until the end of April at the earliest.

The Manchester United midfielder suffered an ankle injury following a reckless tackle by Andy Carroll during the team’s win over Reading in the FA Cup last weekend.

Eriksen, 30, was substituted in the second half at Old Trafford following the tackle from behind.

Carroll was not sent-off for the challenge during the Red Devils’ 3-1 victory but later received a second yellow card for another late tackle.

Eriksen joined Man United on a free transfer last summer and has become one of the most important players in Erik ten Hag’s team. The Danish midfielder has made 31 appearances for the club so far this season.

Man United have released a statement on the player’s injury, and said that they don’t expect him to return to action until ‘late April or early May’.

As such, the former Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder will miss most of the rest of the season.
