The Belgian scored some crucial goals in his season at Anfield.
Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke says he has no ill feelings towards Jurgen Klopp despite the fact that the German sold him after just a single season at Liverpool.
The 26-year-old Belgian joined the Merseyside club from Aston Villa in the summer of 2015, having been signed by Brendan Rodgers, and went on to score 10 goals in 42 appearances for the Reds.
However, Benteke never truly found favour with Klopp and moved to London with Palace last summer. He has gone on to score 16 goals for the Eagles in a successful fight against relegation, two of which came in a 2-1 win at Anfield last month.
He insists, however, that proving the former Borussia Dortmund boss wrong was not on his mind that day.
He told Sport Foot: “I can’t be annoyed with him. I was frustrated at the time, but in any case, it’s not a person who’ll manage to destroy what I have built or what I will build.
“In my head, I’m the sort of person who says, ‘If it doesn’t work here, it’ll work elsewhere.’
“Did I want to show him he was wrong when I went back to Anfield? It’s only human, but I didn’t want to force my game.
“When I scored and even if I tried to hide it, I was very happy. But I stayed respectful. A lot of players would have provoked the coach, the fans. But it’s not in my nature.”
