Chris Forrester’s career progression continues.
The talented midfielder only joined Peterborough United last summer from St. Patrick’s Athletic. Forrester experienced a highly impressive debut campaign in League One, earning plaudits for his performances and was even compared to Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick.
The 23-year-old was named in the Republic of Ireland’s provisional squad last March for the games against Slovakia and Switzerland, and has made such an impact at the Posh, he was named club captain earlier this week.

However, Forrester’s week has improved further, and on Saturday it was announced that he has signed a new three year deal with the club.
Peterborough’s Irish chairman Darragh MacAnthony was full of praise for the Dubliner, revealing that the player is being rewarded for his great form, and that Forrester even took a pay cut to join the Posh last summer.
“I took a punt on Chris last year and he took a punt on coming over because he took a pay cut when he came over, but I promised him that if he had a good season then we would look at his contract again. I get on well with his agent and we have been working on the deal in the last few days and it was easy to get it done. He is one of our most coveted assets at the football club.
“Chris has been excellent for us, the gaffer has named him captain of the club and him agreeing a new deal sends a real statement out there.”
Hopefully Forrester’s progression continues and it won’t be too long before we see him in an Ireland jersey.
