Brendan Rodgers’ team have lost a Scottish Premiership game for the first time since May 2016.
All good things have to come to an end. For Celtic, the good thing was their unbeaten domestic record and, to be fair, it lasted much longer than anyone could have imagined, stretching to 69 games.
But they have finally been beaten. And well beaten at that. The Hoops went down 4-0 to an impressive Hearts side at Tynecastle Park, with Craig Levein’s men outclassing the champions and current leaders.
Hearts’ 16-year-old prospect Harry Cochrane opened the scoring in the 26th-minute with his first goal for the club before Kyle Lafferty, a former Rangers striker, doubled the home side’s lead with a 25-yard daisycutter before half-time.

With Tynecastle expecting an onslaught from the visitors, Manuel Milinkovic capitalised on some catastrophic defending from Jozo Simunovic before rounding Craig Gordon to make it three and put Hearts in dreamland.
Milinkovic then capped a historic victory with a penalty 15 minutes from time, firing a spot-kick into the bottom corner after Gordon’s foul on Ross Callachan.
Bringing Celtic’s invincible streak to a grinding halt, Hearts’ win is also hugely significant in that it means Rodgers’ men are top of the table by just two points, with Aberdeen breathing down their necks after a 4-1 win over Hibernian on Saturday.
Hearts were outstanding, bettering Celtic all over the pitch, making them look distinctly ordinary in the process. It will give the rest of the league hope, too, showing what’s possible against the Hoops when
As you’d expect, Twitter has had some fun at Celtic’s expense.

Hearts manager Craig Levein looks like a dour Scottish detective, who has no people skills, no respect for authority, but he gets the job done. pic.twitter.com/wo0k1gBR2E
