Carlo Ancelotti has given his clearest indication yet that he would be interested in replacing Louis van Gaal at Man United.
The current Old Trafford boss is under increasing pressure from the club’s fans, who are growing tired of his patient, conservative style of play.
Ancelotti’s name has been touted a number of times in recent weeks, and until now he has kept his own council about replacing Van Gaal.
But speaking to the Independent, the Italian has for the first time admitted that he would fancy the job if it became available.
“Of course, for every manager, they would all think of managing Manchester United,” confessed Ancelotti. “I will continue to wait. If I don’t find a club with a good project, I can wait.”
“Let us see next summer. I will not take a job in mid-season, but I would like to work again next summer.”
If that’s not a hint to the Man United board that the former Real Madrid man is ready and waiting if a vacancy comes up, we don’t know what is.
