A police spokesperson also provided further details of the incident: “Officers were at King Edward Memorial Hospital in connection with another matter.

“When they were alerted to the victim who was brought into the Emergency Department in a non-responsive state, with what appeared to be multiple stab wounds. The victim was transported to hospital via private vehicle.”

Since the appeal was first made, the Royal Gazette has confirmed that a 24-year-old man has been arrested in relation to the incident, with Stableford thanking those who had already come forward with information. He said:

“That information has allowed the investigation to progress, resulting in this arrest. We are aware there are individuals who accompanied Osagi to that party at Fun Zone who, for whatever reason, are refusing to speak with us.

“Their unwillingness to co-operate with police is worrying. We urge those individuals to reconsider their position and help provide justice and closure to Osagi’s family.”

During his career, Osagi Bascome spent time at both Bristol City and Darlington and also had brief spells playing football in Spain.

He was also a Bermuda international, and played for the country in their major tournament debut in the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup, featuring in all three matches before being eliminated in third place.
