Liverpool fan makes vile Munich disaster reference to Dortmund stadium announcer

Disgraceful

Nooruddean Choudry

It was billed as a Borussia Dortmund/Liverpool Football Club love-in.

The return of Jurgen Klopp to his old club in Thursday’s Europa League tie was always bound to be an emotional affair and most of the respective supporters were intent on enjoying the occasion.

But one Liverpool fan shamed the Premier League club and embarrassed its supporters with a needless reference to the Munich Air Disaster during an interview with Borussia Dortmund’s stadium announcer.

Norbert Dickel was out and about mingling with the Liverpool fans prior to the game and was talking to a another supporter when the fan in question butted in.

Pestering Dickel about wanting to ask a question, he was granted his wish and asked:

“What do you think of Munich ’58? Can I ask your opinions on Munich ’58?”

This was followed by a look around for some sort of vindication and jollity from his fellow reds. The interviewer looked perplexed. All in all, not a great moment on memorable night.
