Shane Duffy is in high demand this summer.
The 24-year-old is being monitored by the likes of Premier League clubs West Brom, Swansea and Crystal Palace but he may well find himself moving a little bit further north.
The Republic of Ireland centre-half has been linked with Celtic all summer long and many Hoops fans are frustrated that Brendan Rodgers didn’t bring him in before the registration deadline for the club’s Champions League third qualifying round clash with Astana.
At the time of writing Rodgers has only signed one player during the transfer window, with Moussa Dembele moving from Fulham to Celtic Park.
Celtic supporters are desperate for defensive reinforcements and are hopeful of a deal being done for Blackburn’s Duffy before the transfer window slams shut.
The comments of Blackburn manager Owen Coyle about the potential deal, though, will not come as music to their ears as he’s definitively stated that there’s been no formal approaches from the reigning Scottish champions.
“In regards to Shane, there’s been no concrete offers from Celtic, in terms of a written offer, so that’s the only thing I can class as interest,” Coyle told the Lancashire Telegraph.
“If there’s other people speculating, then I can’t really comment on that.
“I only deal in the facts and the fact is there’s been no concrete offer from Glasgow Celtic for Shane Duffy.”
