Just when Aston Villa fans think things can’t get any worse, they inevitably do.
The club is staring down the barrel of relegation and they are currently without a permanent manager.
Remi Garde was unable to keep them in the Premier League, and as they currently prop up the table, it’s been revealed they are about to waste £2million on a club re-branding exercise.
The club’s famous crest was remodelled in 2007 to look like this:
However, according to the Birmingham Mail, the club are now planning on yet another re-design, and will do away with the word ‘PREPARED’ under the club crest while the lion will regain the claws it lost in 2007.
The move is understood to have been signed off by the club’s ex-CEO Tom Fox, and the cash will be spent despite the club facing the loss of massive television money as they head for the Championship.
The new chairman Steve Hollis and new directors David Bernstein and Mervyn King will be unable to prevent the change going ahead as the contract has already been signed with the design company.
The re-designed badge will feature on the club’s forthcoming kit to be manufactured by Under Armour while there will also have to be redesign works made to the club’s training ground as well as stadium, including the famous Holte End bringing the cost into seven figures.
