Put simply, Arsenal’s season has been a failure.
Yet again the Gunners find themselves out of the title race with games to spare and there’s not even the consolation of an FA Cup trophy to fall back on this time around.
Arsenal go into the weekend’s action with Manchester United breathing down their necks, knowing that their Champions League place is not yet secure.
With City currently ahead of them on goal difference, Arsenal are staring down the barrel of another fourth-placed finish after a season that promised so much at one stage.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s game against Norwich at the Emirates, Wenger attempted to shift the blame of this season’s failings onto the Arsenal fans, lamenting the lack of positive atmosphere during home games.
Wenger: "This team has character and attitude." The emptiest of empty phrases at this point.

“We lost the championship at home against the lower teams, but we played at home in a very difficult climate,” he said at Friday’s press conference.
“We have to realise that, away from home, we are championship winners. At home, against the smaller teams, we lost the league.
“This club does have special values though and one I’ve experienced over the years is to stick together and support the team. There’s no success without that.”
Unsurprisingly, many Arsenal fans are not happy with Wenger’s claims, particularly the assertion that the Gunners have the best away record in the league.
Please tell me that Arsene didn't really say "we are champions away from home". We're not, obviously… pic.twitter.com/0rXjhNFe5p

How can one blame fans for the teams failure? Are we picking formation? Are we scoring goals? Nah g. Wenger is moving nuts

Even pundits were surprised by the comments…
Is Wenger blaming Arsenal fans? "We lost the championship at home against lower teams but we played at home in a very difficult climate."

And you-know-who had his say…
12 years of coming 3rd & 4th in Premier League and Wenger has the audacity to blame Arsenal fans for his failure. Disgraceful. #WengerOUT

Is this the beginning of the end or just another bump along the road for Wenger?
