Arsene Wenger wants to bring an Arsenal flop back to the Emirates

After years of searching, Arsenal have finally found a solid first-choice goalkeeper in Petr Cech.

Since Jens Lehmann’s departure in 2008, the Gunners have gone through a number of ill-suited pretenders such as Manuel Almunia, Lukas Fabianski and Wojciech Szczesny before nabbing the keeper from the newly-renamed Czechia.

While some attempts at finding the next David Seaman failed following a series of calamitous errors, other experiments seemingly failed without even being given a chance.

At the start of the 2013/14 season, Arsene Wenger made the odd move of bringing in Italian shot-stopper Emiliano Viviano on loan from Palermo for the season.

We’d forgive you if you had forgotten about Viviano – or never even knew about him in the first place – since the Italian never actually made a competitive appearance for the Gunners.

But rather than admit defeat, Wenger wants to bring the Italian back to North London, according to Football Italia.

Now 30-years-old, Viviano plays for Serie A side Sampdoria, with their manager believed to be opposed to any move for the keeper and could face a potential backlash for allowing him to leave.

Wenger, on the other hand, would likely face an even more ferocious response from Arsenal fans for re-signing six-cap Italy international.
