Arsene Wenger’s nightmare continues as Petr Cech looks set to miss six key games for Arsenal

More terrible news for Wenger

Simon Lloyd

There’s just no let up for Arsene Wenger.

A miserable run or results, disgruntled supporters, key players questioning their teammates and now this – an injury to one of their most consistent performers.

The Arsenal boss confirmed on Friday that Petr Cech will not feature for up to a month after picking up a calf injury in the defeat to Swansea City.

It means the goalkeeper is likely to miss crucial games.

The news comes as another bitter blow for Arsenal and their supporters, who have once again watched what seemed to be a promising title challenge unravel as the season approaches its climax.

The prospect of seeing Cech replaced by a man whose most notable moment of the season so far was dropping the ball in his own goal when handed a Champions League start will not fill anyone with confidence, either.
