Antoine Griezmann reports from France should cheer Manchester United fans up immensely

Oui oui oui!

What’s the best anecdote for a grim goalless draw? Why some positive transfer, news of course.

The atmosphere in Old Trafford was fairly grim on Wednesday night as Manchester United slumped to a goalless draw against relegation battlers Hull City.

With Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur all dropping points in this round of matches, the home tie was a real opportunity to close the gap on the teams above them. However, after 90 minutes they just couldn’t break the deadlock.

If any Red Devils supporters grew weary watching their side share the spoils with the 19th best team in the league, they may have flicked the channel to the Copa del Rey semi final clash between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. These lucky sods would have been rewarded for their actions by witnessing not one, but two legitimate wondergoals, as well as a decent headed effort from this chap.

His performance may be enough to turn that frown upside down because Yahoo Sports are reporting some very positive transfer news regarding the Frenchman. According to one of their Old Trafford sources, Manchester United ‘already have the basis of an agreement in place’ to sign Griezmann next summer.

The Atletico star has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for a number of months and the latest reports are that both United and the La Liga outfit are at the advanced stage of completing the deal.

The report added that United made initial contact over Griezmann’s availability late last year, but their source claimed that they would be willing to part with the forward as long as no move was made by United in the January window.
