He’s been out of favour under Neil Warnock.
Anthony Pilkington hasn’t had much of a look in at Cardiff City this season but the Republic of Ireland winger came off the bench to complete the Bluebirds’ rout of Sunderland on Saturday.
Pilkington replaced striker Kenneth Zohore with Cardiff already leading 3-0 and sealed three valuable points with a strike deep into injury-time to cap a satisfying afternoon’s work and lift his side to second in the Championship table.

The 29-year-old has not featured regularly under Warnock this season and has been heavily linked with a move away, with Ipswich Town one of several clubs reportedly interested.
Pilkington was a regular starter for Cardiff after joining from Norwich City in 2014 but has fallen down the pecking order in recent months. The nine-time Republic of Ireland international has just a single start to his name this season but it’s good to see him back among the goals.
Junior Hoilett and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing have been preferred to Pilkington on merit this season, but hopefully the wide man can find a way back to playing regular football for the Welsh club once again.
