“Anthony Martial is bigger than the Mirror”.
Most people didn’t even know what it was about but they all loved it anyway.
Manchester United’s 20-year-old starlet has accused a British media outlet of printing quotes from an interview he never conducted.
Mirror Football ran a story online on Saturday night claiming that Martial said United fans have not seen the best of him yet.
It was pretty tame stuff, to be honest, it was all the usual:
“It’s a big season for me and I want to be better than last year,” the report quoted the Frenchman.
“I don’t think you have seen the true Martial at Man United yet. I know I can perform better, I know I can do more.
“But I’m convinced this season can be my year. It’s a feeling I have.
“I am a professional footballer and it’s a game where the coach decides where you can be most beneficial for the team. As long as I am attacking, I am happy! I know what Jose Mourinho decides will be best for me, personally, and for the team.”
It went on to say that there are many aspects of Martial’s game that he wanted to improve but that they were a “secret” and he preferred not to divulge in public.
The biggest problem when something like that goes online? It spreads.
The quotes started propping up everywhere. All over the internet, Anthony Martial was there saying he has to improve and apparently talking about his manager.
It confused one man in particular though and that just so happen to be the man himself.

His decision to call them out received widespread acclaim from the Red Devil faithful.

But he is yet to receive a response from the party in question.
The Mirror usually get it so right, too.
