Another day, another transfer rumour about a French international being up for a move to Old Trafford.
Hours on from Antoine Griezmann deciding against a move to Manchester, one of his international colleagues is said to be quite keen to join up with Jose Mourinho’s side.
That man is Alexandre Lacazette, the Lyon striker who, somewhat ironically, had been lined up to replace Griezmann at Atletico Madrid had the club not been hit with a transfer ban.
Several reports have linked Lacazette with a move to United in the hours since Griezmann appeared to commit his future to Atleti, although it’s expected that they’ll face competition for his signature.
Arsenal have repeatedly been linked with the striker in recent years, but L’Equipe now go as far as reporting that the 26-year-old fancies a move to Manchester ahead of a switch to North London.
With Wayne Rooney expected to leave United in the summer and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s future at the club far from clear, Jose Mourinho is said to be looking to bolster his goal-scoring options.
Lacazette, who will reportedly cost around £50m, might well now be the man they turn to after he bagged 36 goals in 44 appearances for Lyon last season.
