Adam Johnson will not play for Sunderland this weekend.
The former England international pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a child and is set to go on trial on Friday.
The 28-year-old was suspended by the club last season, after he was arrested in March, but following bail and a subsequent extension on that bail, the suspension was lifted.
Johnson came on at Anfield against Liverpool last Saturday and scored a free kick that sparked a two-goal revival for the Mackems.
Sam Allardyce’s men host Manchester United this Saturday but Adam Johnson is expected to be omitted from the squad.
Reports claim that the Sunderland manager will confirm at his pre-match press conference that Johnson will not be involved in the squad amid the ongoing court case.
