Chinese opponent throws in towel at start of final round

Katie Taylor will face into another World final tomorrow morning after a TKO of her Chinese opponent Jinhua Yin

The opening two rounds were tense and scrappy affairs with the challenger very energetic trying to upset the Irishwoman’s rhythm.

However, Taylor led after the opener and was tied by two judges and ahead by the other following the second round.

By the third Taylor was ahead 30:27, 29:28 and behind 29:28 before the Chinese corner decided their fighter had enough.

It’s believed that she may have suffered a broken hand during the course of her encounter with the Bray woman.

Taylor will face Azerbaijani Yana Allekseeva for the 60kg gold medal after she beat Estelle Mossely of France in the other semi final in what was a very scrappy and disappointing semi final.

It’s another early start tomorrow so get the coffee in for Taylor’s next tilt at gold medal glory.
