Katie Taylor’s professional career is only two days old but already she’s got her second fight fast approaching.
In a remarkably short turnaround, the Bray boxer will take to the ring as a pro for the second time in less than two weeks as she competes on the undercard of Anthony Joshua’s IBF heavyweight title defence against Eric Molina in Manchester.
Taylor’s first outing on the professional circuit was a devastating one as she outclassed opponent, Poland’s Karina Kopinsk, and stopped her in the third round.

“I can’t wait to fight in Manchester on 10 December,” Taylor said in the wake of her debut victory.
And while she came through that test unscathed, the London 2012 gold medallist doesn’t have much time to celebrate the win as she’s right back in the gym, looking forward to her next clash.
Taylor’s opponent for the Manchester event has been confirmed as Switzerland’s Viviane Obenauf, per BBC Sport, and she’s expected to put up more of a tougher fight for Taylor.
That was a clinical performance @KatieTaylor!

Obenauf owns a 9-1 professional record so is significantly more experienced than Taylor in that department and she too holds a victory over Kopinska, defeating the Polish fighter by unanimous decision last month.
A bright future as a pro is expected for Taylor, and she’s already been promised a spot on the undercard of Gennady Golovkin’s next title fight in Madison Square Garden next March.
Promoter Eddie Hearn is dedicating a lot of time to the fighter who he believes can do for women’s boxing what Ronda Rousey did for women’s MMA.
But no opponent can be overlooked and a bout against Obenauf is certainly no gimme.
