Floyd Mayweather’s list of top five boxers of all time is so very Floyd Mayweather

Really?

The only thing more insulting than having Muhammad Ali barely breaking the top five is the glaring lack of Sugar Ray Robinson in Floyd Mayweather’s list of the all time greats.

Mayweather is looking to keep his perfect professional record going when he faces Andre Berto next month in what is perceived as a serious drop-off since the most anticipated bout of all time which came when Money outpointed Manny Pacquiao to a decision in May.

As divisive a figure as Mayweather has continued to be, he will irritate even the biggest Floyd fans with his list of top 5 fighters of all time.

The 48-0 welterweight unsurprisingly puts himself in top spot with Roberto Duran, Pernell Whitaker, Julio Cesar Chavez and Muhammad Ali behind him.

While the fact that Ali just barely broke the top five is enough to drop a jaw, the lack of figures like Robinson, Joe Louis and Henry Armstrong makes this list just a little bit silly.

  • 1 Floyd Mayweather W 48 L 0
  • 2 Roberto Duran W 103 L 16
  • 3 Pernell Whitaker W 40 L 4 D 1
  • 4 Julio Cesar Chavez W 107 L 6 D 2
  • 5 Muhammad Ali W 56 L 5
