Floyd Mayweather on Khabib bout: “Oh, we fighting!”

"He's got to come to my world."

Floyd Mayweather can just keep the millions rolling in by repeatedly coming out of retirement to fight whoever happens to hold the UFC lightweight title.

It’s a damning indictment on the financial ceiling of mixed martial arts that those at the absolute pinnacle feel the need to pursue a fight in a different discipline in order to make that life-changing money.

Khabib Nurmagomedov is the latest UFC fighter to call out Mayweather and the bout is gaining traction, with the 50-0 boxing great looking for a tune-up fight before ultimately meeting former rival Manny Pacquiao in a rematch next year.

Amid cynics’ claims that it is just an attempt from Mayweather to keep himself relevant, ‘Money’ has insisted that the bout is indeed going down.

“Oh, we fighting!” Mayweather told TMZ Sports. “I’m my own boss. So I can’t say what’s going on on Khabib’s end. But, on my end, we can make it happen.”

Mayweather has seemingly accepted Nurmagomedov’s challenge but will only agree to the fight under his terms.

The undefeated UFC lightweight champion had previously pushed for the bout to take place in any location other than Las Vegas because of his ongoing issues with the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Nurmagomedov has yet to receive his $2 million disclosed purse from the NSAC for his last outing due to his involvement in the melee which marred UFC 229 two weeks ago and he is eager to fight anywhere else.

But the fact that the last 14 fights of Mayweather’s career have taken place in the fight capital of the world speaks volumes because Las Vegas is where the money is for elite prize-fighters.

Mayweather continued: “I’ve seen on social media that he put that basically he’ll fight but he doesn’t want to fight in Vegas. Of course, we know that Vegas is the fighting capital and after the fight, you have to conduct yourself like a true professional. Not just in the ring but outside the ring also. You must conduct yourself like a professional. It was a big melee. I haven’t had a chance to see it but from what I’ve heard, it was a crazy melee.

“Who’s the A-side? He called me out so he’s got to come to my world! It’s always the hand game.

“I’ve seen in an interview that he said when he hit Conor McGregor, he knocked Conor McGregor down and that I didn’t knock Conor McGregor down. OK, Khabib you got my leftovers. Whoop-de-doo.”
