How do you follow the underwhelming “fight of the century”?
With an even more underwhelming fight, it seems.
Following his victory over Manny Pacquiao in May, Floyd Mayweather said: “My last fight is in September, then it’s time for me to hang it up.”
Whether it will be his final fight or not remains to be seen, but Mayweather announced tonight he’ll fight Andre Berto on September 12th.

31 year old Berto is a Haitan-American fighter, with a record of 30 wins, 23 by KO and three professional losses, but there appears to be little appetite for the fight amongst boxing fans.

Andre BertoMayweather, who earned a reported $220 million from the Pacquiao fight, will match Rocky Marciano’s 49 fight unbeaten record should he win, but the contractual obligation with cable network Showtime is a more likely motivating factor for the man nicknamed Money.
The 38 year old boxer will bring an end to a 19 year professional career should the September bout be his final fight.
