Pacquiao said the bout is “what the fans wanted,” and he’s not wrong.

Earlier this month, the WBO welterweight champion posted a poll on his Twitter account, asking who did fans want him to fight next.

Khan, a two-time world champion, comfortably topped the poll.

Pacquiao also said that the fight will take place in the United Arab Emirates, however, no venue has been officially confirmed yet.

There were rumours earlier this week that it could take place in Khan’s hometown of Bolton, or in Manchester, but the UAE appears most likely to stage the event.

The bout will mark the 30-year-old’s return to the ring for the first since getting knocked out by middleweight Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez last May in Las Vegas.

Pacquiao last fought in November, when he came out of retirement to beat Jessie Vargas in Las Vegas. The 38-year-old is a six-time world champion.
