Amid the ever-loving shitstorm that was Chris Froome pegging it up Mont Ventoux after crashing into the back of a cameraman’s motorbike, Nairo Quintana kept his head.
He kept his balance too.
The wider world suddenly got interested, on Thursday afternoon, when Twitter exploded with news of Tour de France leader Froome running up the final ascent at Ventoux.

A motorbike had suddenly hit the brakes and caused a mini pile-up that left Froome’s bike busted. He took matters into his own hands until a support car arrived with a fresh bike. The Team Sky man dropped to 6th in the General Classification until sense prevailed and his lead was restored.
The scenes after the crash were pure chaos but take a moment to appreciate the quick-thinking of Nairo Quintana, who took himself a tow from a support motorbike to cruise on by.

Quintana copped some grief when this footage emerged but he could justifiably argue that he did not want to become unclipped in the pile-up.
