That could’ve been embarrassing.
Team Sky’s victory home straight almost ended in tatters when Richie Porte showed the value of using your hands when you’re cycling.
Chris Froome was celebrating his Tour de France victory and wheeled in shoulder-to-shoulder with his team mates as they strolled through the last stage together. But some of them weren’t as comfortable doing the old no-hands trick as others.
Surely they must know by now that you should always, always keep your hands on the sides.
As the photographers grabbed some clinker pictures of Team Sky riding in unison, Porte wobbled almost uncontrollably and threatened to take the champ with him.
It was grand though, he got his hands down, he rescued the situation and they had a bit of an old laugh about it afterwards.
Besides, it beats having piss thrown at you anyway, I bet.
