It almost made all the difference.
Ireland’s World T20 opener against Oman was nothing if not eventful and this stand-out piece of play almost paid dividends in the end.
Ireland came up just short against Oman but Gary Wilson certainly did not deserve to be on the losing side in India this afternoon.
The Surrey star saved a six with this gravity-defying leap and remarkable wherewithal but the rescued runs mattered little in the overall scheme of things as Oman finished as winners by two wickets with a four at the death.
And oh man, how Ireland could have done with Wilson behind the final strike as John Bracewell was forced to watch his side finish in unspectacular style with Niall O’Brien being nutmegged by Oman’s gamewinning boundary.
Great win for Oman but what on earth was Niall O'Brien doing with that final ball. Can't help thinking Gary Wilson would have stopped that.

Please tell me the ball was dewy for that last Irish over. Serious shocker otherwise.
