There’s no more hanging around for Ireland’s top Olympians.

Rio is only a matter of weeks away and if the country’s most dedicated athletes are to come back with medals, they need to sweat now. And then some.

Rob Heffernan is already an Olympic bronze medalist. He knows what it takes from his experience in London but, if he’s to go one – maybe two – better this summer, he’s going to squeeze every last drop that he has in him.

Meanwhile in Jordanstown, Matt McGovern and Ryan Seaton are eating up weights like their lives depended on it.

The 49er class sailors are preparing for glory in Rio and they’re leaving nothing to chance. Instead, they’re relying on pure, honest hard work. Total commitment.

Ahead of Wednesday night’s airing of RTÉ’s Road to Rio documentary, the distinguished duo are featured in a preview of the episode and let’s just say that they’re not taking it easy in the gym.

It’s good.

But it’s no Fiona Doyle.
