This could have been disastrous.
There was a scary moment at Roland Garros on Tuesday when a large piece of the metal scoreboard broke off and fell into the stands.
The incident happened during the men’s quarterfinal clash between Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Kei Nishikori. A piece of metal paneling fell off the top of the scoreboard during the second set and landed where spectators were sitting.

Luckily no one was seriously injured but three people suffered minor injuries. 200 fans were subsequently removed from that section of the stands and the match was delayed for about 40 minutes. Both Tsonga and Nishikori went to the locker room during the delay.
A sheet of metal fell from the scoreboard onto members of the public, three of whom sustained minor injuries.
