Thankfully there was no mics to pick up the sound

Breaking your wrist can be one of the most painful experiences as a human.

There’s loads of little bitty bones in your hand and arm that mesh together at the one point, and smashing the piece of your body that connects both can take quite a long time to heal.

Most people break their wrist in a fall but it’s doubtful any of them would have been travelling at the pace that poor Sally Pearson was tonight when she appeared to badly hurt her wrist in a Diamond League meeting in Rome.

The 2012 Olympic champion screamed in agony as she clutched her stricken limb while the other competitors were oblivious to her plight.

You can watch the full race here and Pearson’s live reaction to her terrible injury around the 1.10 mark
