Hometown hero Nick Kyrgios set the tennis world alight during his Australian Open run
Although he lost his quarter-final match in straight sets to British No 1 Andy Murray today, there was a brief moment in his match against Andreas Seppi at the weekend where he produced a moment of magic.
The Aussie battled his way to a dramatic come-from-behind victory over the man who sent Roger Federer crashing out of the tournament. Kyrgios fought back brilliantly after going two sets down to defeat the Italian.
During one lengthy rally, Kyrgios came in to the net and over-hit a drop shot to allow Seppi to try a cheeky cross-court pass. The ball thudded off the top of the net and Kygrios showed cat-like reactions to chase it down and hit a ridiculous around-the-post winner.

We think his celebration is not too unlike the magical one produced by Irish football hero John O’Shea after a similarly audacious effort, albeit with a bigger ball. Of course, the tennis hot-shot could not recapture the stone-faced countenance that embodied confidence displayed by O’Shea.
