This great clip comes from the NBCC Men’s Division One League Final between IT Carlow and NUIG.
IT Carlow were down by five points with the time ticking down in the final quarter. With 33-seconds left until the end, the Carlwegians levelled the game at 72-72. However, it took a moment of pure magic to claim victory against the Connacht outfit.
Almost out of time, shooting guard Jimmy Ward was left with no choice but to have a punt from way deep, downtown.
Ward’s agonizingly long, hail-mary, half-court shot managed to find its way into the bucket a split second after the final buzzer sounded.
Elation for Carlow, heartbreak for Galway. What an incredible way to finish a game!
