Jason Smyth is a Paralympic gold medallist again. The fastest Paralympic athlete on the planet blitzed a strong field in Rio to claim his third successive T13 100-metre gold medal.

Smyth, who won gold at Beijing 2008 and London 2012, raced home in a time of 10.64 to leave his competitors scrapping for silver and bronze.

Smyth, who had impressed in his qualifying heat, has now matched Usain Bolt’s achievement of winning 100m golds in three successive games at the pinnacle of his sport. Up next for the 29-year-old from Derry is a tilt at retaining his 200-metre gold.
Their was an understandably overjoyed reaction latest, fantastic feat of the blind athlete.
