Finally, something else we can try to be the best in the world at.
Before everyone else starts playing it.
Those guys at the park (us) who you thought you were better than because you were kicking a ball and they were tossing frisbee, well they’re you’re fellow sportsmen and women now.
That’s right. Ultimate Frisbee is officially a sport after it was recognised by the International Olympic Committee and we, for one, are delighted because we’ve already managed to slip two frisbee stories under the net without the editor noticing.
Congratulations to the World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF), which was granted full IOC recognition at the #128IOCSession today!

The World Flying Disc Federation is now a thing – a proper thing – so, just like those five-a-side leagues you joined that started off as a bit of craic before League of Ireland players started turning up and your team mates began scowling at each other because you weren’t busting your arses enough, frisbee can now enjoy having the life sucked out of it by that thing we call competition.
Ultimate Frisbee is no longer a game. It’s a sport. And, now, all that matters is that you win. Frisbee PowerLeague or not.
It will be fun though until we eventually have a national team under-performing and there are widespread calls to tear up the floorboards and get to the root of the frisbee problem in the country.
Until then, we’ll enjoy some of the magic that it’s going to throw up (pun not intended but thoroughly enjoyed). Because this really should’ve been a sport long ago.
Hat-tip to JOE.co.uk. We bet Ireland would beat their frisbee team.
