Medal or not, the O’Donovan brothers will live long in the memory of Irish fans.
The Skibbereen pair get the chance to claim gold at Rio 2016 when they take to the water on Friday for the men’s lightweight double sculls final after qualifying on Thursday.
Gary and Paul O’Donovan finished their semi-final in third place, beating out Great Britain in the process, and the viral interviews continued as they came ashore.
Speaking to RTÉ, this was the most serious 38 seconds of an interview that carried on from, and probably bested, their effort earlier in the week that endeared them to the millions watching at home in Ireland.

The infectious giddiness and ‘yera sure we’ll be grand’ attitude was on full display as the siblings insisted that they’d do their “besht” on Friday.
It certainly caused a splash.
