Someone is trying to surf a puddle in Newcastle

The suspense

Conan Doherty

The day the internet jumped the shark.

(One of* the days)

#DrummondPuddleWatch has taken the worldwide web by storm.

Offices around the country began to look a little similar on Wednesday afternoon as co-workers gathered together by one screen to discover the fate of innocent passers-by in Drummond, in the north east of England.

Productivity levels dropped.

Bodies pushed to the limit.

Athleticism of locals was tested as different avenues and ideas to overcome the infamous water obstacle were devised. Some planned. Some off the cuff.

We were part of something.

Let’s face it, it was just basically someone getting around a puddle and going on about their life. But it gripped nations far and wide.

We were brought together.

A wet floor sign was erected as the human species began to look out for one another but people were still bold enough to ignore it and walk straight through the puddle.

Cyclists even had trouble.

The struggle is real.

We have lilos.

Some just made hay whilst the sun was shining. Or, you know, laid on their lilos whilst the puddles were rising.

The grand finale.

And, with 20,000 people watching on, the best solution of them all.

A bloody surf board.

If you really have nothing to do with your day, this might entertain you for a while. Watch it here.
