Necessity is always the mama of invention.
So paying fans into a coursing meeting in Kilkenny can thank the smart men and women behind the organising committee for this idea to help them avoid a sticky situation on Sunday afternoon.
The dire weather meant that any spectators paying into any sporting event would have been naturally anxious about trying to get out of a muddy field afterwards.
We’ve all been there.
Your Da is trying to dig his way out of the mud, and you’re behind the backwheel, pushing as hard as you can before he eventually bogs himself out.
Well, coursing fans at the north Kilkenny meeting in Johnstown on Sunday afternoon didn’t have to worry about that issue thanks to this wonderful invention that was spotted at the venue.

To our untrained eye it appears as if a silage bale has been wrapped with a mattress or the back of a couch to try and nudge cars out of the muck.
Absolutely class.
