And Skibbereen goes wild!
You can keep your Diaz brothers, your Dudley brothers and your Klitschko brothers because two siblings from West Cork have just become our favourite brothers in the world.
Gary and Paul O’Donovan claimed Ireland’s first medal of Rio 2016 when they crossed the finish line in second in the men’s lightweight double sculls final.
The O’Donovan brothers broke out their trademark strong finish to cross behind France and secure silver for the Irish and a first rowing medal for their country.
The pair have been a breath of fresh air this week when Team Ireland was in dire need of a pick-me-up.
The O’Donovans’ first post-race interview with RTÉ endeared themselves to an entire nation and, on Thursday, they proved their charisma was no fluke as they followed it up with another viral classic.
"Tis great to beat the Brits," – the O'Donovan brothers are the gift that just keeps on giving https://t.co/ewqnRFUyQs
